Panathinaikos‘s hopes and wishes came to fruition as the club managed to find an agreement with captain Ioannis Papapetrou on a two-year deal, they announced.
Papapetrou, 27, in his third season with the Greens, averaged 12.1 points and 4.1 rebounds across 27 EuroLeague games and has received interest from multiple teams this offseason.
The forward also posted 13.9 points, 4.04 rebounds, and 3.3 assists in 25:06 minutes over 28 games in the Greek League as Panathinaikoswon the championship title and was named the season MVP.
With Papapetrou onboard Panathinaikos keeps one more key member of last season’s core, after Nemanja Nedovic, they have lost Dinos Mitoglou to Milan and the question mark remains about Mario Hezonja.
“I am happy to stay at Panathinaikos”,Papapetrou said. “I have lived many beautiful moments with the team so far and I hope to give our fans many more joys. I want to thank the people of the club for their support and the fanbase for the love they show me. See you at OAKA “.
